At MEDICOFIT clinic, we are not looking for quick solutions; our mission is to work with you to eliminate the causes of your injury, improve the function of the injured segment, and prevent potential mechanical or pain problems in the future.
We incorporate the latestclinical physiotherapy guidelines into individualised treatment for the comprehensive treatment of joint, muscle and ligament injuries. MEDICOFIT physiotherapists are physiotherapy specialists with internationally certified education for specialised treatment of complex injuries and diseases.
We ensure high quality with a customised selection of exercises and therapeutic techniques based on the patient’s diagnosis and symptoms.
Modern physiotherapy is moving towards early active rehabilitation, where the goal is to restore full function to the patient, and not just reducing pain. In the early acute phase, we apply special exercises, which achieve excellent results in establishing good function of the musculoskeletal system.
MEDICOFIT rehabilitation
Rehabilitation at MEDICOFIT clinic is an expertly developed and elaborated process of recovery that includes various breakthrough, scientifically proven physiotherapy approaches with the aim of restoring function and improving the problems of a patient who has suffered an injury, disease, or other orthopaedic problem.
In the medical context, rehabilitation is carried out in different phases of treatment – from acute care and recovery from intense symptoms to establishing lasting preventive resilience.
MEDICOFIT rehabilitation includes physiotherapy treatment, which, unlike general routine physiotherapy on prescription, includes numerous specialised techniques for treating complex specific problems caused by various orthopaedic diseases.
The main innovation of MEDICOFIT rehabilitation is the injury treatment plan, which is prepared and implemented individually for each patient based on in-depth physiotherapeutic diagnostic study within the framework of diagnostic therapy. Several specialised experts in kinesiology, physiotherapy, and orthopaedics are involved in the rehabilitation process.
What are the main goals of rehabilitation?
Rehabilitation at MEDICOFIT clinic has several main goals, which are tailored to the individual’s needs, type of injury or disease. The main goals of rehabilitation include:
Restoring function: The main goal is to restore or improve an individual’s abilities that have been affected by injury, disease, or surgery. This includes regaining motor skills, balance, coordination, and other functional aspects.
Improving independence: Our rehabilitation programme strives to help the individual become as independent as possible in everyday activities. This includes basic tasks such as dressing, eating, hygiene, and movement.
Pain reduction: In cases where pain is present, our main goal is to reduce discomfort and improve the individual’s ability to manage pain.
Prevention of further injury: The treatment plan at MEDICOFIT clinic includes learning safe movement and handling techniques, thereby reducing the risk of re-injury or worsening of your condition.
Improving the quality of life: With a comprehensive approach to rehabilitation, we strive to improve the individual’s overall quality of life, which includes social inclusion, self-esteem, and life satisfaction.
It is important to understand that the goals of rehabilitation at MEDICOFIT clinic are individualised and tailored to the specific needs of each of our patients. Experts involved in the rehabilitation process are responsible for planning and implementing a rehabilitation programme that best suits the individual’s condition.
Areas of MEDICOFIT physiotherapy
Individual therapy session at MEDICOFIT clinic includes 60 minutes of individual work with the patient's personal physiotherapy specialist and 30 minutes of biostimulation therapy. Every session at MEDICOFIT clinic will last 90 minutes. We will prepare a rehabilitation package for you that is appropriate for your diagnosis.
CHRONIC PAIN AND DEGENERATIVE CONDITIONS
The starting point for the treatment of chronic pain and degenerative conditions at MEDICOFIT clinic is a diagnostic therapy appointment.
The common conditions we treat are inflammation of the joint capsule (synovitis), chronic back pain, herniated disc, stenosis, neck pain, sciatica, disc protrusion in the neck or lumbar spine, degenerative ligament conditions or tendinopathies (jumper's knee, runner's knee, Achilles tendinitis, tennis elbow, golfer's elbow, quadriceps tendinitis, rotator cuff inflammation), various forms of arthritis, hip wear, knee wear, etc.
POSTOPERATIVE REHABILITATION
If you want to start postoperative rehabilitation at MEDICOFIT clinic, you need to book a diagnostic therapy appointment.
We perform acute postoperative physiotherapy as early as the third day after your surgery.
Common surgical conditions we treat include cruciate ligament reconstruction, meniscus surgery, knee arthroscopy for cartilage damage, shoulder surgery for injury of supraspinatus or long head of biceps, knee or hip replacement, ankle fracture surgery, surgical treatment of torn muscle, etc.
PREOPERATIVE PHYSIOTHERAPY
Preoperative rehabilitation at MEDICOFIT clinic begins with a diagnostic therapy appointment. After surgery, the main risk factors are muscle atrophy or loss of muscle mass and loss of joint mobility, resulting in a prolonged period of pain. With preoperative preparation ...
COMPREHENSIVE NON-SURGICAL INJURY REHABILITATION
Comprehensive non-surgical injury rehabilitation at MEDICOFIT clinic begins with a diagnostic therapy appointment. Phases of rehabilitation
Diagnostic therapy
Acute phase – Physiotherapy
Post-acute – Kinesiology
Post-rehabilitation – Long-term maintenance
Diagnostic therapy is the first treatment of a patient, combining advanced methods of physiotherapeutic diagnostics and initial therapy procedures to limit the acute conditions.
The physiotherapy specialist will carefully compare the patient’s medical history, medical reports, and clinical picture on the day of the examination, which will be based on special orthopaedic tests and muscle measurements.
As part of diagnostic therapy, the patient receives expert advice, being informed of the findings, indicated physiotherapy techniques, risks, and prescribed comprehensive treatment for the rehabilitation of pain and function. An exact therapeutic regimen and treatment specifications for all subsequent phases of rehabilitation will be prescribed.
The physiotherapist will also perform the first therapeutic measures to accelerate healing, reduce swelling and pain, and thereby practically familiarise the patient with the treatment procedures that they can expect as part of the comprehensive treatment of the disease.
The acute phase defines early treatment immediately after injury, surgery, or diagnosis of a disease. At MEDICOFIT clinic, acute treatment already starts as part of diagnostic therapy.
The acute phase of the patient’s treatment is handled by outpatient physiotherapy, which includes special physiotherapy techniques with modern devices such as: PERISO diamagnetic therapy, Wintecare TECAR, SUMMUS therapeutic laser, EMS high-energy laser, EMS DOLORCLAST focused shock waves (ESWT) – UGV, EMS DOLORCLAST radial shock waves (RSWT), SIXTUS combined cryoultrasound therapy, HiToP high-tone therapy, 6D active pressotherapy, and MEDUP training with blood flow restrictions.
All devices represent state-of-the-art breakthrough technology in physiotherapy, used to accelerate tissue regeneration, improve blood circulation, accelerate healing at the cellular level, restore connective tissue, and reduce inflammation and pain.
As part of MEDICOFIT comprehensive treatment, patients gain access to our entire range of technology.
The goal of the acute phase is to stabilise the condition, reduce pain, prevent further injuries, and prepare the patient for kinesiotherapy and the post-acute phase of rehabilitation. In the acute phase, we focus on reducing muscle atrophy, improving muscle activation, and restoring muscle strength and mobility.
The post-acute phase is the period of treatment when the patient’s basic motor integrity has been restored, or the main three goals of outpatient physiotherapy have been achieved. Absence of pain, absence of swelling, absence of movement restrictions. Permanent successful rehabilitation starts only in the post-acute phase.
The process is led by orthopaedic kinesiology specialists, who prepare kinesiotherapyspecifications for the patient for key areas of restoring full motor function.Early kinesiology involves restoring muscle symmetries, stabilising the joint in basic positions, and gaining muscle control in final joint amplitudes.
Intermediate kinesiology involves intensive strength and muscular endurance training in a prescribed regimen that eliminates long-term risks for the patient’s disease and problems, advanced joint stabilisation, and complex movement patterns.
Late kinesiology includes specialised tests to restore the patient’s load-bearing capacity according to their requirements, plyometric rehabilitation, and sports testing protocols as needed.
The goal of the post-acute phase is sustainability of treatment, which cannot be achieved by treating symptoms alone. Once the post-acute phase is over, the patient will gain greater resilience, lower risks of recurrence of the problem, a greater guarantee of permanent cure, and preventive power that will allow them to safely engage in sports.
For many patients who have completed primary treatment, we recommend continued participation in long-term physiotherapy or long-term personal training.
Certain injuries and diseases leave permanent consequences or are not completely curable. In such cases, basic treatment achieves the maximum improvement in the condition possible; we then propose a maintenance phase to maintain a stable health status.
Patients who successfully complete treatment without long-term risks can join the key client MEDICOFIT programme, which provides them with safe individualised kinesiology, designed using previously obtained data and MEDICOFIT treatment file, which means that the programme will be more effective, as it will be completely tailored to the individual and their musculoskeletal genetic factors.
We then offer patients membership in MEDICOFIT Family programme, which provides them with lifetime benefits that apply to six registered family members.
The goal of post-rehabilitation is to maintain acquired function in the long term and prevent re-injury or worsening of a chronic condition.
Each programme has an integrated autonomous self-learning module based on previous data from performed training and therapies, which means that it is the most effective form of individualised kinesiology that adapts to the patient’s actual status at all times.
Rehabilitation and professional individualised training are not a linear process; the client needs to be provided with automatic programme adjustments based on progress, potential complications, and changes in health status.
At MEDICOFIT clinic, we notice that many patients do not receive proper physiotherapy treatment after an injury or disease, and an increasing number of patients come to us with severely advanced conditions and a high level of complex complications due to long waiting times and general routine physiotherapy. Some of the common mistakes are:
Delayed rehabilitation
One of the key mistakes is the lack of transparency of medical staff, who are obliged to inform patients with indications for immediate physiotherapy that they cannot provide and remind them that they are forced to seek solutions independently.
This group includes all patients who have undergone orthopaedic surgery, as modern clinical studies show a progressive increase in the risk of permanent complications for each day of delayed physiotherapy after three days of surgery. For the success of the surgery, patients are advised to immediately start early acute physiotherapy, which largely depends on the technology used for rehabilitation, as performing exercises in the early postoperative phase is not possible. This means that public institutions and concession physiotherapy practices cannot provide patients with adequate physiotherapy after surgery.
General physiotherapy
The majority of public and private physiotherapy practices in Slovenia still treats patients’ problems solely based on their area of the body with routine physiotherapy.
Modern science allows us to clearly specialise physiotherapy protocols for each diagnosed pathology of the patient; if only general physiotherapy is performed, the patient has extremely little chance of effective treatment, and the long-term risks are not eliminated with such treatment. We do not recommend this treatment to patients, as it is the main reason why physiotherapy often does not work for patients. Without specialisation of all therapeutic procedures, we cannot talk about physiotherapy.
Inappropriate rehabilitation plan
Mistakes are often observed in the number of prescribed therapy sessions and rehabilitation regimen. For certain conditions, a solution cannot be guaranteed after eight treatment sessions. Many diseases are chronic and incurable, and many degenerative conditions with the same diagnosis vary greatly between patients in terms of clinical picture.
Setting physiotherapy goals and defining a rehabilitation regimen and comprehensive treatment plan is a demanding process that requires a trained physiotherapy specialist and an extremely good knowledge of diagnostic methods.
In most cases, patients undergo physiotherapy treatment without a treatment plan, by determining procedures on the fly or “off-the-cuff”, key goals are not set or divided according to the phases, and the estimated time of the patient’s treatment is determined on the fly according to the perception of pain.
Patients are often advised not to undergo physiotherapy without a clear therapeutic procedure plan and expertly supported facts for the implementation of therapeutic techniques.
Passive rehabilitation
A common mistake observed is the so-called passive treatment of patients, which involves limited manual medicine, osteopathy, or chiropractic methods. This is pseudoscience that uses only passive manipulations without serious kinesiotherapy measures that restore patients’ resilience, strength, and load-bearing capacity. Without specially prescribed kinesiotherapy and an active approach to rehabilitation, it is not possible to provide the patient with comprehensive treatment of the injury and the permanence of treatment.
The problem can also be the aforementioned general physiotherapy, which treats the patient only on an outpatient basis, and prescribes exercises to be performed at home,
Lack of expertise and measurability
Modern physiotherapy is an exact science based on measurability and clinical diagnostic procedures of physiotherapy and kinesiology. Without measurability, it is impossible to talk about expert treatment or safe physiotherapy.
Subjective therapy methods are still a widespread phenomenon in physiotherapy, posing a risk primarily for clearly diagnosed orthopaedic problems that require the use of advanced technology and precise process of rehabilitation and condition monitoring. Patients often become victims of their own wrong decisions when they choose cheaper services and treatment in unauthorised centres without a proper medical licence and equipment.
Commonly treated injuries
In the area of the foot and ankle, we achieve high success rates in treating heel spurs, Achilles tendon injuries, ankle sprains, plantar fasciitis, and metatarsalgia. We treat more than 20 different foot and ankle conditions with highly tailored specialist physiotherapy.

Which conditions require physiotherapy rehabilitation?
The field of physiotherapy deals with the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic pain, disorders of the musculoskeletal system, such as radiculopathies in the cervical or lumbar spine, tendinitis and tendinopathies, sports medicine, joint pain, and post-operative rehabilitation.
How long does each therapy session last?
Rehabilitation therapies are planned and tailored to your individual needs. A typical therapy session lasts 90 minutes, but the time and types of therapy vary depending on your individual progress.
Is rehabilitation painful?
Physiotherapy should not cause pain. It is intended to determine current limitations and to gradually increase your abilities. As with any training-based programme, it is crucial that you commit to the treatment and attend scheduled sessions regularly, allowing you to gradually increase your endurance without excessive muscle fatigue and pain.
How long does rehabilitation last?
Recovery times vary depending on the individual’s medical condition and needs. Most conditions related to the musculoskeletal system require therapy two to three times per week for 10–12 weeks – depending on the type of injury. Some neurological or postoperative conditions may require a slightly longer recovery period – even several months.
